APPLICATION PROCESS

Transcripts

To apply for the MBA program at the University of Florida, you must contact all post-secondary institutions you attended. Request your official academic records or transcripts to be submitted either electronically through services like E-Scrip, Credentials Solutions, Parchment, National Student Clearinghouse, or Scrip-Safe to transfer admissions, or by mail to the UF Office of Admissions in Gainesville, Florida. If mailed, transcripts must arrive in a sealed, signed envelope, which you must not open before forwarding it to the UF Graduate Admissions office. If you are a University of Florida alumnus, your UF transcripts can be retrieved internally, but you still need to submit an unofficial version with your online application. If accepted into the MBA program, official transcripts must be provided before the end of your first term.

GMAT or GRE

For Full-Time MBA applicants, a test score (GMAT or GRE) is required. GMAT scores should be emailed unofficially, while official scores should be sent directly to the University of Florida (institution code 5812). While the GMAT is preferred, GRE scores are accepted. Questions about test scores can be directed to the admissions team.

However, for Professional MBA programs (Executive, Online, South Florida, and Weekend Professional), a GMAT or GRE score is optional. Applicants can choose to submit a score if they believe it enhances their application. The admissions committee evaluates applicants based on various factors, including career progression, leadership experience, and academic performance, ensuring a holistic review process where applicants are not penalized for not providing a test score.

Foreign Language Requirement

If English is not your native language and you lack a bachelor’s degree or higher from an English-speaking country, you must provide an English language proficiency score, such as TOEFL, IELTS, or MELAB. A minimum score is required, and applicants scoring below 30 on the verbal section of the GMAT might need to demonstrate English proficiency through an interview. However, a high language exam score doesn’t guarantee admission.

Acceptable exam scores are as follows:

TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language):
– Internet-based: 80
– Computer-based: 213
– Paper-based: 550

IELTS (International English Language Testing System):
– Minimum score: 6

MELAB (Michigan English Language Assessment Battery):
– Minimum score: 77

Exceptions to this requirement include applicants who are citizens of English-speaking countries, have completed at least one academic year as a full-time student in an English-speaking country, hold a prior degree from an accredited U.S. university, or are citizens of countries listed as exempt on UF Admissions Qualifying Countries.

2 Recommendations

To complete the UF Graduate School Application for the MBA program, you need to upload your resume, request two professional letters of recommendation, and pay a $30 application fee online. The letter of recommendation process allows recommenders to upload their own evaluations or use the provided Common Letter of Recommendation Form. Relatives and former professors should not write these letters.

If you are self-employed or work for your family business, a letter from a client, vendor, or mentor is acceptable. UF MBA students or alumni can also endorse you directly to a UF MBA Admissions representative. Active-duty military personnel can substitute the recommendation letters with their last two evaluations by emailing them.

Once your application is submitted, the Admissions Coordinator will update you on your application status within five business days, considering high-volume periods. You can also check your application status to verify the number of recommendation letters received.
