APPLICATION PROCESS

Transcripts

Candidates must have a U.S. bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, or the international equivalent, by the time of application. Official transcripts are required.

GMAT or GRE

GMAT, GMAT Focus Edition (beginning Q4 2023) and GRE are accepted. All test scores must be active and not expired at the time of application. 

Foreign Language Requirement

A TOEFL, IELTS or Pearson Test of English (PTE) is required if the candidate’s native language is not English. If the candidate has completed an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution where the sole language of instruction was English, they are exempt from the English proficiency requirement.

1 Recommendation

The recommender should be able to answer the following questions:

  • Please provide a brief description of your interaction with the applicant and, if applicable, the applicant’s role in your organization. (50 words)
  • How does the performance of the applicant compare to that of other well-qualified individuals in similar roles? (E.g., what are the applicant’s principal strengths?) (500 words)
  • Describe the most important piece of constructive feedback you have given the applicant. Please detail the circumstances and the applicant’s response. (500 words)

Interview

Interviews are by invitation only and conducted by a Ross alum. Applicants will receive information about the timeline for interview invitations and next steps a few weeks after the application deadline passes.

Application Fee

All applicants are required to pay a nonrefundable application fee of $200.

PROGRAM STRENGTHS

STEM Designation

Interested students can specialize in an area of STEM to futher boost their professional and academic careers. STEM specializations include Quantitative Management and Business Analytics in marketing, supply chain, finance, technology or in entrepreneurship. These are 14-credit specializations which allow students the flexibility to focus on their studies to best suit their personal and professional goals.

21 Centers, Institutes, and Initiatives

Flexiblity in curriculum extends beyond the classroom. Students can pursue their passions at any one of Ross’ Centres, Institutions and Initiatives. These opportunities include finding solutions for global challenges, developing the proper character to succeed in todays world and to find sustainable private sector solutions for low and middle income countries.

STUDENT LIFE

Students at Ross live in beautiful Ann Arbor, where learning, busines and agriculture collide. At Ross there are over 70 student led clubs which students can attend, giving them a change to network and build relationships with likeminded people and fellow students.

MBA PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The MBA program at Ross is defined by real world and hands-on experience. Students learn the skills to start their own businesses, to earn experience in consulting, to manage a student led investment fund and to lead and manage in real business situations. Students graduating from Ross have the experience and skills necessary to lead in ever changing professional situations.

First Year

The first year at Ross will be full of core courses which prepare students to succeed in the program. Students are welcome to take 10 required credits through another school within the University of Michigan. At the end of their first year student can bid on a MAP project which they can focus on during their second year.

The second year at Ross is filled with electives. Students can tailor their course load to better fit their interests and needs. Student who wish to specialize, can choose from four different concentrations and specializations:

  • Specialization in Management Science

Damian Beil

Professor Beil is the Donald C. Cook Professor of Business Administration, Professor of Technology and Operations, and Chair of Technology and Operations. His research interests include mathmatical models to analyze complex problems in sourcing. He is an associate editor for numerous journals including Management Science, Operations Research, and Naval Research Logisitics. His BA is in Mathmatics from New College and a PhD in Operations Research from MIT.

Francine Lafontaine

Professor Lafontaine is the Interim Dean, and William Davidson Professor of Business Economics and Public Policy. Her research interests include vertical relationships, franchising, and inter-firm contracting. She is well published with her articles appearing in the journal of political economy and the journal of law among others. She earned her PhD from the University of British Columbia.
