Sometimes, due to unexpected events, you may need to change the date or cancel the scheduled GMAT exam. The GMAT cancellation policy allows test-takers to reschedule or cancel their exam appointment in case of unexpected events. However, the GMAT cancellation policy comes with additional fees for both options. GMAT Cancellation Policy
According to the GMAT official handbook, you can reschedule or cancel your exam online or by phone. If you decide to reschedule or cancel an exam appointment by phone, an additional service fee of $10 will apply.
Cancellations, rescheduling fees, and refunds will apply, depending on the time you request the change and the applicability of local law. Also note, that when demographic information is edited in the application, it requires greater processing time and documentation.

How to Cancel the GMAT Exam
To cancel the scheduled GMAT exam:
- Log in to your mba.com account.
- Go to the “My account” and find the “exams” section.
- Locate the GMAT appointment that you would like to cancel.
- The platform will show two options: Reschedule and Cancel.
- Select the cancel option.
- Click on confirm cancellation button.
- Don’t forget to read and agree to GMAC’s policies.
You can cancel or reschedule your GMAT exam up to 24 hours prior to your appointment start time. Here is the updated cancellation fee

- $150 ($100 refund) – More than 60 days prior to appointment
- $175 ($75 refund) – 15 to 60 days prior to appointment
- $200 ($50 refund) – 1 to 14 days prior to appointment

How to Reschedule the GMAT Exam
For rescheduling the exam, you need to follow the following steps.
- Log in to your mba.com account.
- Go to the “My account” section and choose “exams”.
- You’ll be offered two options: Rescheduling and Cancellation.
- In this case, you click on Rescheduling.
- If you would like to change the location of your test center, click on the “change test centers” button.
- If you wish to keep the exam in the same center and change the date only, select a new appointment date and time.
- Select a new date and time.
- select the “complete reschedule” button.
- Afterwards, the platform will ask you to confirm your personal information, such as name, telephone, correspondence language, date of birth, and country of citizenship.
- After you confirm your personal information and click “next” button, the platform will present GMAC’s policies.
- The policy will notify you that you will be charged for Rescheduling/Canceling the exam. You have to read and agree on it to continue the process.
- Once you do so, you will be asked for payment as the final step of rescheduling the GMAT exam.
GMAT Rescheduling Fee
- $50 – More than 60 days prior to appointment
- $100 – 15 to 60 days prior to appointment
- $150 – 1 to 14 days prior to appointment

After completing all the steps and paying the fees, you will receive a confirmation email, including your new GMAT appointment date and time, personal information, identification requirements, and the location of the test center.
Canceling your GMAT score
After taking your GMAT exam, you are offered the opportunity to see your unofficial scores and within two minutes decide whether to accept or cancel them. Note, that if you cancel, you will not have access to the official score report. A self-canceled score will appear as “C” on the official report, along with all GMAT attempts you had in the previous five years.
If you self-cancel your scores on test day, you will still have an opportunity to reinstate them within 4 years and 11 months, however, you will have to pay an additional fee of $50.
If you accept your score on exam day, you still have the opportunity to cancel it within 72 hours via mba.com. The additional fee in this case will be $25 and it may take up to 24 hours for a platform to cancel your score.
Note that this possibility only refers to those who take their exams at test centers. Online takers will not have the choice to view their unofficial score report and cancel GMAT scores from the online exam.

How many times can I take the GMAT exam?
You can take the GMAT exam 5 times maximum in a rolling 12-month period, regardless of format. In your lifetime, you can take the exam up to eight times in total. Note, that there is a 16-day waiting period between the exams of the same format, but there is none if you switch the formats (for example, from the testing center to online or vice versa).
What happens if I forgot and missed my exam?
If you miss your GMAT exam, you can register again for a new exam without waiting for 16 days. However, you will not get a refund.
